Foundation Gerrit Kreveld
Belgian study centre for social democracy
The Foundation Gerrit Kreveld, a Belgian study centre for social democracy, is ideologically aligned with, but clearly independent of the Flemish Socialist party (sp.a). The Foundation aims to be a think-tank, concerned with the future, opportunities, boundaries and new challenges facing social democracy. This not only at home, but also in relation to European developments and to the world of globalism

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS IN FLANDERS:
Dramatic result for the sp.a
Dramatic result for the sp.a
On June 7th 2009 Belgium held regional and European
elections. For the Flemish Socialist Party, sp.a, both results were not too
positive, to say the least. For the Flemish elections the sp.a stranded at
15,3% (19,7 in 2004), but with this loss became - ironically enough - the
second party in Flanders. The European elections were even worse, with a mere
13,3% (a drop of 4,6% in comparison to 2004).
